Ecotourism in Israel.

 

 

To say Ecotourism in Israel is almost point counter point. But against all odds despite    Israel dense population today, and lack of population for the last 2000 years, despite the many wars and armies that crushed the land of milk and honey despite lack of rain despite the impact of the neighboring countries Israel is one of the countries that’s put protecting the eco system and nature as one of its first values and Ecotourism is a result to the government investment in protecting the nature and the ecosystem, and the high awareness of the Israelis to the ecology, thanks to advance education.

 

Ecotourism in Israel is mainly thanks to sharp lines draw by the state declaring 30% of the land of Israel  22,000 km² or 8,000 sqm as Nature reserves and put Israel as a leading country in this aspect.   Prof. Eran Pitelson the chairman of Israel Nature and parks authority said that declaring land as a nature reserve is the best tool to protect the natural resources thanks to 2 reasons a. Nature reserve protect the land against human development. b. Allows preservation actions.

 

Ecotourism was my main goal for 10 years traveling around the world in Africa the great nature reserves in  Kenya and South Africa, the remote nature reserves and places in Zaire, Congo, Cameroun, Nigeria, Niger, Mali, Ivory coast, Togo, Benin. In South  America  Galapagos Ecuador, Brazil, America  Norway and North Europe and Thailand and the Philippines in the far east. Ecotourism was part of me from childhood before I could speak English and say Ecotourism, I loved the nature in my home town Bat Yam were in my door step across the street I could see more then  100 spices of birds and same number of marine life in the Mediterranean  2 blocks from my home

 

I welcome the Eco tourist, for me Ecotourism is not only a working tool, it is my entire life philosophy which also allow me to enjoy the nature and the great verity of fauna and flora species in Israel.

 

In Israel Ecotourism can not stand by itself and we can not forget the main attraction in Israel the history the archeology and religion.
